The Katha Project will be organizing a talk on Tracking the Epics on February 19th (Friday) 2016 at Amaltas in the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi road, New Delhi by Mythologist Utkarsh Patel and the author of the book “Shakuntala- The Woman Wronged”.
The talk will discuss the two most popular Indian epics, Ramayan and Mahabharat and the many versions which exists across the Indian sub-continent.
Registrations are free and on a first come first serve basis. The talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. and guests are expected to be seated by 6:45 p.m. Those who wish to attend can send an email to thekathaproject@gmail.com
About the talk: The Ramayana tradition has enjoyed a unique popularity throughout the subcontinent of South Asia (comprising the modern states of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka) and beyond – for versions of the tale have flourished in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Though it is not the same for Mahabharata, probably due to its sheer size and complexity, Mahabharat too has had its share of versions, especially with reference to certain episodes if not the whole text. The talk will aim to capture this diversity and will bring forth the many interesting versions and tales from lesser known cultures and continents through an hour long interactive session.

Mr. Utkarsh Patel, corporate-professional-turned-mythologist, author of “Shakuntala – The Woman Wronged” and professor of Comparative Mythology at the Mumbai University who has qualifications in Mythology, both Indian and World from Mumbai University will be happy to share further insights on the topic.
